Our Vineyards

Kersbrook, Adelaide Hills

The Amadio Vineyard is located North of the Adelaide Hills wine region between the areas of Kersbrook and Williamstown. An area that is considerably warmer and drier than other areas in the region causing the low-vigour fruit to ripen earlier with more tannin and high acidity.

With 327 acres planted, the vineyard supplies an array of grape varieties. In the white: Sauvignon Blanc, Fiano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Arneis, Moscato, Vermentino and Pecorino. In the red: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Grenache, Sangiovese, Barbera, Dolcetto, Tempranillo, Montepulciano Aglianico, Sagrantino , Nebbiolo and Nero d’Avola. Together, these grapes can create over a million bottles of wine.

Our Winemaker

Danniel Amadio

Drawing inspiration from his Italian heritage, Danniel Amadio is guided by tradition. With an unbridled passion for winemaking, he creates exquisite, high-quality wines that captivate the global palate.

Danniel is continuing his family’s successful winemaking legacy. He is driven by a strong winemaking style and philosophy, infused with an entrepreneurial spirit. His wines embrace the best fruit flavours and ‘terroir’ characteristics of the Adelaide Hills region, producing wines of great depth and natural character.

Danniel has his finger on the pulse of every aspect of production, enabling his philosophy of producing premium quality wine. He is often found inspecting the fruit parcels in the Kersbrook Vineyard and when in Adelaide, his mind is on expanding Amadio Wines’ horizons nationally and internationally. This has led him to be the 2009 Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” finalist. In 2007, he was also awarded the South Australian business awards for Hong Kong/China Entrepreneur for excellence in Bilateral Trade.

Our Story

Since 1936 Amadio Wines has prided itself on producing premium quality wines vintage after vintage. Tradition and passion guide every step so our wine can be as brilliant as the people you share it with. National and international awards decorate our bottles but our greatest reward is seeing our wines surprise and delight.

Our History

1927

In 1927, Giovanni Amadio found a job as a Market Gardener in a fruit orchard at East Marden and never lost a day’s work from there on. During this time Giovanni paid for his wife and son’s passage by ship, to join him in Australia. They arrived 1934 where Giovanni then purchased what became the family home and land at East Marden.

1936

In 1936, Giovanni commercially registered his dry table wine after years of making wine for family and friends. Giovanni sourced his grapes from leased vineyards nearby to make his well crafted wine from his cellar door in Adelaide. His lighter, drier wine style became rapidly popular with word spreading around the state. A successful production began over time with his family cultivating a sincere appreciation for premium winemaking.

1949

In 1949, Giovanni was invited to join the SA Fruit Growers Association. This lead to a continued interest in development of the Market Garden Business. Giovanni’s subsequent plantings, vision for the region and diligent work then allowed for his wine to be sold to multiple retailers and shops all across Adelaide.

1985

In 1985, Gaetano, the third son of Giovanni, demonstrated his fathers dedication by establishing a 150-acre vineyard in Gumeracha, Adelaide Hills. Through his efforts, he succeeded in producing exceptional wines that have graced the tables of restaurants and residences throughout Australia and beyond. His unwavering commitment to creating top-tier wines has earned him a well-deserved reputation for crafting award-winning vintages.

2005 – present

In 2005, success continued to flourish as the next generation of winemaking was embraced by Danniel Amadio. Under his stewardship, the renowned Amadio range of wines was born. Danniel upholds the family tradition by carefully sourcing premium fruit from the family’s Kersbrook vineyards in Adelaide Hills. With a commitment to limited case production for each wine range, he ensures a hands-on approach to maintain high production standards and honor the family legacy.
