Amadio Wines has received further international recognition for its outstanding wines this week. The award-winning South Australian winery won six medals – three gold and three silver – at the prestigious awc Vienna 2011 International Wine Challenge.
awc Vienna 2011 is the world’s largest officially recognised wine competition with over 10,900 wines from 36 nations anonymously tasted and evaluated.
Amadio Wines enjoyed a 100% strike rate, having submitted six wines for evaluation this year. It was awarded gold medals for its 2009 Amadio Adelaide Hills Shiraz and flagship 2008 Misura 800 Shiraz. The latter currently retails at $200.00 per bottle.
In great news for Australian Sangiovese, Amadio Wines’ 2009 Sangiovese also won gold against its EU competitors, proving that this grape variety has a brilliant future down under.
awc Vienna also awarded silver medals to the label’s 2008 Pinot Noir, 2007 Reserve Merlot and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The fruit for these exceptional wines are sourced from their family estate vineyards of 200 hectares plus in the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley regions of South Australia.
Drawing on three generations of Italian winemaking heritage from 1936, the label continues to produce exceptional European style wines that have won accolades in Europe, Asia and Australia.
“We’re all delighted to receive world recognition again for the second year running,” said Managing Director/ Vintner, Danniel Amadio. “It’s wonderful to feel our family’s longstanding passion for, and dedication to, creating world class, European-style Australian wines continues to pay off.”
Amadio Wines has also announced it will be the official /exclusive wine for the November 2011 PGA Championships in Coolum Qld and the JBWere Masters in Melbourne late Dec this year.
